In-Hospital Attendance of Patients
Dr. Chappell is affiliated with several local Plano, Texas hospitals. If a member of your family has been admitted to one of these hospitals and is in critical care or is in need of emergency pulmonary care, Dr. Chappell will arrange to visit the patient in his/her hospital room. In-hospital attendance of patients is a service reserved for the most critically ill patients and for those who cannot wait to see their regular primary care physician.
In-Office Chest X-Ray
Chest X-rays are an everyday part of the in-office care we offer our patients. Dr. Chappell has the latest in X-ray technology so that he can evaluate the organs and structures within the chest area for symptoms of disease, infection and other ailments that might be causing a pulmonary condition. Dr. Chappell offers X-ray exams on film and through a radiograph. It is the most frequent and most common service we offer to diagnose pulmonary related conditions. Some disorders that can be found through a simple X-ray include:
- Pneumonia or bronchitis
- Pleural Disease
- Tuberculosis
- Acute diseases
- Infections diseases (pneumonia, flu)
- Emphysema
- Cancer
- COVID
In-Office Pulmonary Function Test
Dr. Chappell offers in-office pulmonary functionality testing (PFT) to diagnose certain respiratory conditions. These tests allow Dr. Chappell to fully assess the lungs and how they are functioning. A variety of pulmonary function tests are offered—all of them require “breathing tests”; One specific pulmonary function test we offer is a spirometry test. During this exam, the patient breathes into a mouthpiece that is connected to an instrument called a spirometer. The spirometer records the amount of air that the patient breathes, as well as the rate to which he or she is breathing the air in and out over a period of time.
